Prepare the tracking pixels for use
- Certain placeholders needed to be added to all HTTP fragments before use. You must obtain this information from your online shop merchant or shop system.
itemcnt = Enter the placeholder for the total number of purchased articles. This value will be automatically created by your online shop system.
amount = Enter the placeholder for the total value of all purchased articles. This value will be automatically created by your online shop system.
random = Enter the placeholder for a random number. This prevents the pixel from being saved in the browser-cache, and ensures that the the pixel is reloaded from the Browser each time a visitor opens the page. The random number is created by the online system when generating a page. The random number is stored for 3 minutes in Mapp's database to ensure that a reload of the page within this time is not counted as new conversion.
ecm_order_id = Enter the placeholder for the purchase order ID. The order ID is created by the online-system when generating the order confirmation page. This ID enables Engage to recognize that this conversion has already been already tracked, even when the page is reloaded within more than 3 minutes.
- The following additional adjustments need to be undertaken for all cookieless conversion tracking:
uemail (alternatively UID)= Enter the placeholder of the email or alternatively the UID of your shop system instead of XX_insert_user_email_XX. The UID or user email is added by Engage to each link of a message and handed over to the shop system when the link is clicked. The shop system needs to keep the value within the whole shopping process and to give it back to Engage at the end. The UID allows to identify the user that created the conversion.
MID ('message ID' )= Enter the placeholder for the message ID. The message ID is added by Engage to each link of a message and handed over to the shop system when the link is clicked. The shop system needs to keep the value within the whole shopping process and to give it back to Engage at the end. The message ID allows to identify the message that created the conversion.
When using the cookieless conversion tracking, along with the tracking pixel, the message ID (MID) and user ID also have to be added to every link of the message (see Add Message ID and User ID to Links (cookieless conversion tracking)).
