Configuration

Step 1: Info

In this step, you provide the name of the message and an optional description.

You can save the message, close it, or press Next to move to the next step.

Step 2: Template

In this step, you define the template, and write and format the content, including images. You can also see the message preview for a specific contact.​

Content​

The ​Content​ pane contains a built-in HTML editor with standard controls to create the content for your message. To refer to the help for the editor, click ​?​ and select the link to the user guide.

The editor contains a WYSIWYG mode and a source mode. Click ​Source​ to switch between the views. If you copy in HTML code, make sure you paste the content into the editor window while you are in source mode.

In the second step of the In-App message composition, select the In-App message template. With the exception of the Custom HTML Web template, each Web template has a corresponding Native template.

Once you choose the template, during the message composition, you are able to edit the template itself by adding Image, Content, and Button(s).

You can change templates between Web and Native, as well as among each other. This will cause no additional rework to the already created content, as the created content will automatically adjust to the selected template. Custom HTML Web template is the only one excluded from this functionality: if you change the template from Custom HTML Web to any other, the existing content will be discarded.

ImageHere, you can upload an image to be used in the message. Upload is possible from a file or from the Content Store.
ContentPut in the headline and the body of the message. Customize text color and background color (only for the body).
Buttons

In this section, you can customize the background and text colors of buttons, and define what should happen when the contact clicks the button - the button action.

Button Actions

  • Open Web Page​ - Opens a specified web page when a recipient taps the In-App message.

  • Open Deep Link​ in the App - Opens a specific location within the app that is associated with the In-App message. For example, a deep link to the About screen of the app is structured as follows: TDB://open=About. The format of the required URL depends on the mobile device.

  • ​Open App Store - Opens the appropriate app store for download and installation of the app that is associated with the In-App message.

  • Dial Number - Dials the specified phone number when the recipient taps the In-App message.

Configuration​

The following are the controls that appear in the ​Configuration​ pane.

Frame Type

Select how the message is displayed to the user.

  • ​Full screen No Dismissal displays the message across the entire screen and does not contain an option to close the message.

  • ​Full-screen X Dismissal displays the message across the entire screen and contains an ​X​ button to close the message.

  • ​Banner No Dismissal displays the message as a banner in the position that you specify in ​Position. The message does not contain an option to close the message.

  • Banner X Dismissal​ displays the message as a banner in the position that you specify in ​Position. The message contains an ​X​ button to close the message.

Display duration

Select how long to display the message. This value is measured in seconds and must be an integer.

Display delay

Select how long to wait before displaying the message. This value is measured in seconds and must be an integer.

Step 3: Inbox

Here, you can define if you want the In-App message to appear in the app's message center, in addition to being displayed in the app, or not.

Step 4: Delivery

The following are the controls that appear in the ​Delivery pane. Select an option for all delivery settings to activate the message.

Mobile App

Select the mobile app to associate with the message. The message is only available to users on that app. When you select an app, In-App Messaging filters out the events and target audiences that do not apply to that app. In addition to events and target audiences that are specific to the app, events and target audiences that apply to any app still display.

Target Audience

Select the target audience that can see the message. You can choose between All app users or Specific app users. If you choose the latter, a drop-down list appears where you can select the desired segment.

Triggering Event

Select the event on the app that triggers when to display the message. Events originate from the app and automatically upload to the Engage system when the event occurs.

Message frequencyThis option defines how many times the message will be displayed to your contact.
ActivationChoose to activate the message immediately, or to schedule the start date, time, and time zone.
DeactivationChoose to either not set a deactivation date, or to schedule the end date, time, and time zone.

Step 5: Summary

The summary pane shows all the main settings of the message. Here you can also save, close, or schedule the message, as well as return to a previous step of the message creation process.​
