Several factors determine the language of the system message sent by Mapp Engage.

Generally, Mapp Engage tries to send the system message in the language of the recipient's profile. If the recipient's country and language differ from the saved language versions of the system message, the system tries to evaluate the optimum language for the recipient.

Languages saved by default in the system are English and German.

When a message is manually added as the Default Language (see Edit Default System Messages), every system message is sent in this language! The individual recipients' settings are no longer considered.

Language Logic

The following checks are performed sequentially to evaluate the language of a system message:

  1. If available, the default language is sent.

A default language has been added to the Customized Messages field.

The message is sent in the default language.

  2. The system checks which language and/or country is saved for the recipient:

The saved recipient language exists as a system message language.

The system message is sent in the language of the recipient's profile (language or country).

The saved recipient country exists as a system message language.

Neither the country nor language of the recipient exists as a system message.

If a default language has been added to the Customized Messages field, the message is sent in the default language. Otherwise, the message is sent in English.

  3. If no recipient language or country information is available, the group language is checked:

The language of the group to which the system message is sent is available as a system message language.

The system message is sent in the language of the group.

The language of another group to which the recipient belongs is available as a system message language.

If no language of the group matches the system message language, the system is checked.

  4. Language of the system is checked.
The language of the Mapp Engage system is used as the language of the system message.
