Engage stores very large amounts of data related to your email marketing campaigns. Storage of such large amounts of data is made possible by our flexible and strong cloud architecture. A Raw Data Export provides raw data from the cloud for further processing.

Raw data is unprocessed, stored information about individual activities. The data is not interpreted or filtered. The Raw Data Export file that you generate contains all the unfiltered data that is available in Engage for specific events. For example, all bounces, and all conversions. The raw data can be exported one time or regularly.

Simplified Data Exports are similar to Raw Data Exports. Both export raw data. However, the Simplified Data Export only exports the first instance of each selected event.

File Structure and Contents

Once defined, the export settings are stored in your system. You can generate the export at any time and copy and reuse the export settings for future exports. The export file is defined in XML or CSV format. For more information, see 6. Export Configuration.

You can export the raw data as a single file, or divide the export into multiple files of a predefined size. The maximum size per export file is 10 GB.

To request a data export template, contact your customer representative.

When you select Export Specific Messages, the maximum number of message IDs per data export is 10,000. This limitation does not apply for the Export All Messages option.

Data from archived messages is not included in the export.

For more information, see 3. Parameters.

In the export file, each event appears in a separate row. For example, if all Sent to MTA and Clicks events are selected for export, each event has a separate row in the export file. This structure can create many empty cells in the import file.

Available Data Types

You can freely configure the types and amounts of data you need.

To generate an export file, at least one event must be selected for export.

The visibility of some data types depends on the configuration of your system. For more information, contact your customer representative.

To identify the information in the export file clearly, include the following items in the export:

  • User ID or Email

  • Message ID

  • Event Timestamp

  • Event Type

If you only export data for one event or message, it is not necessary to select Event Type or Message ID.

On the user interface, data is divided into the following categories:

  1. Events
    • Sent to MTA

    • Skips

    • Bounces

    • Feedback

    • Renders
