This filter divides one path on the whiteboard into two or more separate paths. Unlike other types of whiteboard splits, there are no specific conditions. The system selects the contacts randomly, based on the distribution percentage you define. The maximum number of paths for a Random Split is 20, and the minimum percentage of a single path is 5%.

Random Split uses a random number generator. When there are few contacts, the split can differ from the selected distribution percentage as it runs each time a contact reaches the step. For example, 20 contacts could result in a distribution of 14 to 6 even with a 50/50 setup. The distribution percentage becomes more accurate with a larger number of contacts. When more than 1000 contacts reach the split step, this distribution percentage nears 1% accuracy.

All contacts are assigned to a path and each contact follows a unique path. If a contact goes down one path, this contact cannot go down any other path.

Configuration

Use the sliding bar to set your desired percentages. If you would like to use even distribution simply select Distribute Evenly at the bottom.

Description

Add Path

Adds a random split path to your whiteboard. When you add a path, the percentage is redistributed evenly.

Distribution

Defines the percentage for the distribution of the contacts. Use the slider to define the percentage.

By default, the system creates two paths with 50% contact distribution each. When you move the slider, the percentage of the two adjacent paths is recalculated and adjusted. If you change other split step type to a Random Split one, the system distributes the percentage equally between all existing paths.

Random Split Paths

Shows the percentage of contacts who follow the specific path. The minimum number of paths is 2.

To remove a path, hover over the path symbol and click . If you remove a path, all of the subsequent steps are removed as well.

Distribute Evenly

Recalculates the percentage and evenly distributes contacts in each path.
