Navigation Path​

  1. In the ​top navigation, click ​Audience > Groups.
  2. In the ​Actions​ column, click  Change Settings​  or the  symbol.
  3. Click ​Notifications​.

Purpose​

The ​Notifications​ tab controls the following group settings:

  • ​Inform Group Owner About Subscribes and Unsubscribes​

  • ​Send XML Notifications About Group Events​

  • Send Opt-In Reminder to Pending Members​

  • Set Up Membership Moderation ​

  • ​Activate Subscription with Email Reply​

Inform Group Owner About Subscribes and Unsubscribes​

You can define whether Mapp Engage sends notifications per email when a contact subscribes or unsubscribes.

Mapp Engage sends a system message to group members with the following group roles: ​Owner​ or ​Manager​.

Do not select these options if you have a large group. These options can result in many notifications.

Description

​Inform Owner and Managers About Each Subscription​

Sends a system message to the owner and managers of the group when a contact subscribes to the group.

Mapp Engage sends the following system message: ​SysMsgSubscribeNotify​.

To edit the default text of the message, see Edit Default System Messages​.

​Inform Owner and Managers About Each Unsubscrib​e

Sends a system message to the owner and managers of the group when a contact unsubscribes from the group.

Mapp Engage sends the following system message: ​SysMsgUnsubscribeNotify​.

To edit the default text of the message, see Edit Default System Messages​.

Send XML Notifications About Group Events​

In this area, you can send XML notifications about different group events.

You can send XML notifications to the following address types:

  • SOAP

  • FTP

  • HTTP

  • Email

You need the following global permission for XML notifications: 430 ​Group Administration: Receive XML Notifications and Edit Settings​.

Setting

Description

​Address Type​

Defines the type of server address or an email address.

You can send XML notifications to the following address types:

  • SOAP

  • FTP

  • HTTP

  • Email

​Address Domain​

Defines the address that the XML notifications are sent to.

SOAP, FTP, and HTTP support transfer security. For more information, see Credentials Options​.

  • SOAP:​ The SOAP address must end with a filename and extension. Example: soap:soapMethod:http://example.com/folders/sendoutreport.html

  • ​FTP:​ Enter the FTP address as follows: ftp://username:password@domain.com

  • ​HTTP:​ The HTTP address must end with a filename and extension. Example: http://example.com/folders/sendoutreport.html

  • Email:​ Enter the email address as follows: mailto:name@example.com

​Store in Specific Folders​

Defines whether each XML file is saved in a specific subfolder in the directory. You can send each notification to a different location.

When you select the ​On​ option, additional fields appear where you can define the individual paths.

Enter the path in the following format:

  • /sendoutreports/

  • /sendoutreports/monthly/

Example:

  • Address Domain:​ ftp://username:password@domain.com

  • ​Individual Path:​ /XML/SendoutReport/

  • Mapp Engage sends the report to the following address: ftp://username:password@domain.com/XML/SendoutReport/


Available XML Notifications​

You can include full or minimal profile data in XML notifications. 

Setting

Description

​Sendout Report​

Sends an XML notification with a sendout report after every message sendout in the group.

​Profile Change​

Sends an XML notification every time data in the profile of a contact changes.

​Subscription​

Sends an XML notification every time a contact subscribes to the group. Subscriptions can be managed in Mapp Engage or in an external system which uses the XML information.

  • Skip Mapp Engage Subscribes:​ Defines whether subscriptions and unsubscriptions are managed in the Mapp Engage system.

    • Yes:​ Mapp Engage does not manage subscriptions in the system. Select this option only if you manage subscriptions in an external system, and do not want Mapp Engage to manage group subscriptions at all. Every subscription is transmitted to an external system via XML. Before sendout, import the externally managed contact list into Mapp Engage.

    • No:​ Subscriptions are managed in Mapp Engage. If you want to synchronize an external system with subscription information, you can still send the XML notification.

​Unsubscribe​

Sends an XML notification every time a contact unsubscribes from the group. Subscriptions can be managed in Mapp Engage or in an external system which uses the XML information.

  • Skip Mapp Engage Unsubscribes:​ Defines whether subscriptions and unsubscriptions are managed in the Mapp Engage system.

    • Yes:​ Mapp Engage does not manage unsubscribes in the system. Select this option only if you manage unsubscribes in an external system, and do not want Mapp Engage to manage group subscriptions at all. Every unsubscribe is transmitted to an external system via XML. Before sendout, import the externally managed contact list into Mapp Engage.

    • No:​ Unsubscriptions are managed in Mapp Engage. If you want to synchronize an external system with unsubscription information, you can still send the XML notification.

​Response​

Sends an XML notification every time a response is processed in the group. A response is an email message that does not reach the contact. The message is either sorted out during sendout or rejected by the receiving MTA. Mapp Engage processes multiple responses at one time.

​Blacklisting​

Sends an XML notification every time a contact is added to a blacklist.

Send Opt-In Reminder to Pending Members​

Setting

Description

Send Opt-In Reminder per Email After Days​

Sends a reminder to pending members who have not confirmed their subscription to the group.

This message is the system message ​SysMsgRemindPending​ . This initial reminder email is only sent one time - even if the recipient does not respond to it.

You can send the reminder after 1–13 days.

You can send additional reminders with an automation. For more information, see Send Repeated Opt-In Reminder​.

Set Up Membership Moderation​

Setting

Description

​Moderate Membership (Managers must Confirm Subscriptions)​

With moderation of group members, a group moderator personally approves of every applicant to the group.

No group member can join the group without the explicit approval of the moderator.

Until the moderator has approved the applicant, the contact has the following membership status in the group: ​Awaiting Approval​.

The membership moderator needs the group permission 502 ​Members: Confirm and Reject Members.

Activate Subscription with Email Reply​

When you activate this option, you change the entire subscription process of the group.

Customize the system messages ​SysMsgInviteToGroup​ and ​SysMsgInviteToGroupPasswd​. These messages must clearly indicate that any reply results in subscription.

Setting

Description

​Activate Subscription With Email Reply​

Defines that any reply to an email subscribes the email address to the group.

When you activate this option, the reply-to address for the group changes to ​groupname-subscribe@domain.com​.

The recipient confirms this subscription by replying to the email (not by clinking a link). Every reply, regardless of what text or message is in the reply, confirms subscription to the group.
