Is there anything worse than unexpected behavior causing errors while using a tool? Yes! Not knowing what triggered the problem and how to fix it. Mapp Intelligence has greatly improved the error handling: You now will get clear error messages when you run reports and analyses, and apply objects that have been deleted in your account. The messages provide a solution and a suggested interpretation for the shown result.

Key Benefits

  • Stay on top of errors: Identify analysis metric columns that include deleted (custom) metrics, dimensions, parameters and/or segments.
  • Save time: As error messages explain the issue, you can fix broken reports and analyses yourself, and move on.

What's Changed?

Mapp Intelligence users happened to get unclear messages when they tried to apply (custom) objects that do not exist anymore, such as parameters or categories. Now we provide you with clear error messages and icons on erroneous metric columns so you can take action.

So far, our teams have identified and covered the following cases.

What went wrongError MessageExample

Columns that are based on missing metrics or dimensions are:

  • Always filtered out on every analysis call
  • Not present in the table or the chart of an analysis
  • Not present in list of metrics or dimensions of the query for an analysis

The following columns are based on objects which are not available anymore and are therefore ignored: column title 1, column title 2

You've used the parameter metric Qty Product Color in an analysis although the parameter Product Color was deleted

Metric columns that are based on metrics or dimensions that include missing custom metrics or formulas in their configuration are:

  • Always present in the table of an analysis
  • Marked with a red error notification icon right after the column title. By clicking the icon, you open a modal with the following message: custom metric base

The configuration of this object contains at least one element which is not available anymore. Please check the configuration of the custom metric or formula.

You've used a custom metric which is based on a deleted parameter.

Metric columns that are based on metrics or dimensions that include missing objects as filter rules are:

  • Always present in the table of an analysis
  • Marked with a red error notification icon right after the column title. By clicking the icon, you open a modal with the error message provided in column 2

The filter configuration of this object contains at least one element which is not available anymore. The result might not be as expected. Please check the configuration of the custom metric or formula.

You've used a custom metric with a filter on a non-existent dimension or metric.

Metric columns that are based on metrics or dimensions that include missing segments as filter rules are:

  • Always present in the table of an analysis
  • Marked with a red error notification icon right after the column title. By clicking the icon, you open a modal with the error message provided in column 2

The filter configuration contains at least one element which is not available anymore. The result might not be as expected. Please check the configuration of this column.

You've used a custom metric with a filter on a non-existent  segment.

Metric columns that include missing metrics or dimensions as filter rules are:

  • Always present in the table of an analysis
  • Marked with a red error notification icon right after the column title. By clicking the icon, you open a modal with the error message provided in column 2
The filter configuration contains at least one element which is not available anymore. The result might not be as expected. Please check the configuration of this column. You've used a metric with a filter defined in the table column on a non-existent metric or dimension.

Metric columns that include missing segments as filter rules are:

  • Always present in the table of an analysis
  • Marked with a red error notification icon right after the column title. By clicking the icon, you open a modal with the error message provided in column 2

The filter configuration contains at least one segment, which is not existing anymore. The result might not be as expected. Please check the configuration of this column.

You've used a metric with a segment filter defined in the table column, and the segment is not available anymore.

In case an erroneous metric column falls into multiple error categories, all appropriate messages are to appear in the error modal.
