You can define target groups for different paragraphs of a CMS message. Apply a segment so only contacts who match the segment criteria get the CMS paragraph in their message. Contacts who do not match the segment get the message without the paragraph.
You have one segment for each of three target age groups (for instructions, see Profile and Bahavior Based Segments). You create three content blocks in your CMS message that are dedicated to different age groups. Apply each segment to the corresponding content blocks. Your contacts only get the content that is targeted to them.
- Create a CMS message with content paragraphs.
- Next to the paragraph that you want to add a segment to, click the symbol.
- In the Sendout Condition area, select the Segment option.
From the drop-down list, select the segment.
Only contacts who match the segment criteria get the CMS paragraph.
Only simple segments are visible in the drop-down list in the Sendout Condition. A simple segment can only contain criteria based on standard or custom attributes. A simple segment cannot contain related data, member attributes, email activity or group membership, etc.
- Continue to create your CMS message. You can add segments to other paragraphs, as well.
When you send the message, Mapp Engage creates an individual version of the email message for each contact. Your contacts only get the content that is targeted to them or that has no segment applied.
