The Create Source Window

A source is created in the Create Source window. Here, the sources that are used to generate new contacts are defined. A source marks the origin of a contact. In the source statistics, the number of contacts generated by a source can be evaluated, as well as the behavior of contacts from different sources. For more information, see Source Statistics.

Sources can be created for different purposes:

  • To keep track of how many contacts a particular internal source, for example, a marketing campaign or promotion, has generated.

  • To keep track of the number of contacts a particular external source, for example, a partner, has generated.

Description

Source ID

This input field defines the ID of the source. The source ID can be a maximum of five characters long. The ID is no longer editable after saving the record and identifies the origin of a contact over its entire life cycle. The source ID is written to the user profile of the corresponding contact during contact import or through a customized subscription link. For more information, see Contact Profile (window).

Source

This input field displays the name of the source. The source can be an internal or external source. Internal sources include marketing campaigns or promotions. External sources, however, include sweepstakes that are set up by a partner on an external website. The source name can be a maximum of 50 characters long.

Account Holder

This input field defines the owner of an account. This account is credited for each contact unit generated by the source. The account holder is an email address that is created in the Mapp Engage system. It is impossible to enter an email address that does not exist in the system. The address shown here is the user account credited the amount that a source receives for contact generation.

Contact Value (Unit)

This input field defines the number of units credited to the account holder for the subscription of a new contact. The units for each contact generated are allocated to the email address defined in the Account Holder input field.

Units are only allocated when a contact is registered in a group. System imports without group membership will not be credited.

Credit is given once. This means that the account is only given credit for the first group registration.
