Content

This area defines the information converted into the barcode.

  • Data Source:

    • Coupon List: When this option is selected, the Data to Encode area adjusts to display a drop-down list of available coupon lists. The barcodes are generated based on the codes that are available in the selected coupon list.
Select a coupon list or click the  symbol to search for a coupon list by Name, ID , Description , Owner or a range of dates in which the list was Last Updated. Click the  symbol to select the list from the search results
In the optional Alternative Barcode input field, enter data inserted as an alternative barcode when there are no more coupon codes in the list.
If the Alternative Barcode field is empty, the Insufficient Number of Coupons settings of the selected coupon list define what happens when there are no coupons codes left to convert (see Create New Coupon List (window)).

    • Custom Attribute: When this option is selected the Data to Encode area adjusts to display a drop-down list of custom attributes. The barcodes are generated based on the value that is available for each recipient in the selected custom attribute.
Select an attribute or click the  symbol to search for a custom attribute by name. Click the  symbol to select the desired attribute from the search results.
In the optional Alternative Barcode input field, enter data that is inserted as an alternative barcode if the selected custom attribute is empty.
If the Alternative Barcode field is empty, recipients who do not have a value in the selected custom attribute are skipped during sendout and do not receive a message.

    • Input: When this option is selected the Data to Encode area adjusts to display a mandatory input field to define the data that is converted into a barcode. A single barcode is created which can be added to messages. The barcode is not based on individual recipient data nor does it provide the tracking advantages of a barcode generated from a coupon list. Once generated, the barcode is available on the Barcodes Overview window or saved as a Content Store Element (see Barcodes Overview (window) or Use a Content Store Element in an Email).

Text Style

This area defines the placement and appearance of human-readable text in the barcode. The area only displays if the selected barcode type supports text.

  • Display Text: This drop-down list defines whether or not human-readable text is visible and where it is positioned.

    • None: This option suppresses text. When this option is selected, no additional text formatting options are shown.

    • Top: This option displays human-readable text above the barcode.

    • Bottom: This option displays human-readable text below the barcode.

  • Font Size: This drop-down list selects a font size for the text of 8 to 20 pixels.

  • Font: This drop-down list selects the font used to display human-readable text.

Layout

This area defines the design of the barcode.

  • Bar Height: This input field defines the maximum height in pixels of an individual bar within a linear barcode. The minimum height is 1 pixel.

  • Bar Width: This input field defines the maximum width in pixels of an individual bar within a linear barcode. The minimum width is 1 pixel.

  • Bar Ratio: This input field defines the proportion of short bars to tall bars in a POSTNET barcode. The standard setting is 0.4.

  • Quiet Zone: This input field defines the amount of white margin area around the barcode. The quiet zone helps the barcode reader to accurately identify where the barcode begins and ends. For linear (1D) barcodes the quiet zone is the blank margin area before the first bar and after the last bar. For 2D barcodes it is the blank margin around the entire barcode. The default setting is 5 pixels. The minimum size is 1 pixel.

  • Format: This drop-down list defines the image file format of the barcode.

    • GIF: Graphics Interchange Format is a bitmap file format that provides lossless data compression.

    • JPG: Common image file format which uses lossy data compression. At high levels of compression, image quality may be affected.

    • PNG: Portable Network Graphic is a raster graphic format that uses lossless data compression.

  • Module Size: This input field defines the size of the individual small squares which make up the image in a two dimensional barcode. The minimum size per square is 1 pixel.

  • Cancel: This button closes the Create New Barcode window, after a confirmation request and opens the Barcodes Overview window. No information is saved.

  • Preview: This button displays the barcode in the Barcode Preview window. The Preview Text input field shows the text that displays in place of the actual barcode in test and preview messages. The preview text can be edited. The Refresh Preview button saves changes to the text.
