As with other content management systems (CMS), the Mapp Engage CMS separates the content (a message consisting of text and pictures) from the layout (template). This separation allows even inexperienced users to create different messages with the same corporate identity.
The content of a message remains stored in the system even if this content is no longer supported by the templates.
An extensive permission system prevents users from accessing features for which they have not been granted permission. For example, a message owner can lock a completed paragraph to prevent changes from other authors. A designated owner can centrally manage the sendout with colleagues who author the message.
When a user edits a message, this message is always locked to prevent another user from editing the message.
The CMS allows you to perform the following functions:
Manage the layout of different messages.
Make blocks of text (headers, footers, or fixed content) available for use in all messages
Set up an easy, manageable workflow to create messages.
Reuse input from other sources (RSS feeds, websites, social media) in the layout of your newsletter.
There are several steps to create a CMS message.
- Select a template.
The template defines the look of a single text part (the paragraphs).
Mapp creates the Mapp Engage templates. These templates can be used for any number of messages that are sent to your customers. If you need a template, inform your account manager.
Add single paragraphs and hand these paragraphs over to your authors, if necessary.
One person with authorization to send the newsletter can also manage the content centrally.
The authors deliver the content and report back the editing state.
If several authors create one message, mark the state of the single paragraphs, schedule tasks, and lock paragraphs from changes.
Hand over the message to be sent.
During the sendout, the message is adjusted depending upon the profile data for the recipients. For example, some paragraphs are only sent to a certain demographic, or links are adjusted to requirements of the customer.
- Send the message to the recipient. The recipient receives the message in the corporate layout and with only those paragraphs that correspond to their profile.
