Goal

To configure the settings for a coupon list so that a reminder message is sent when a predefined number of coupons is reached.

Prerequisite

The Coupon Manager is a billable feature that must be activated for your system. To activate the coupon manager, contact your customer service representative.

Background Information

In Engage, coupons are managed in coupon lists (see Coupon Manager). To ensure well organized coupon management, each coupon list should only contain one type of coupon (for example, free shipping or 25% discount).

Additional coupons can be added to a list even if the coupon list already contains coupons. Coupons are created in a shop or CRM system as a TXT or CSV file and uploaded to Engage (see Import Coupons Into a Coupon List). The system that creates the coupon also regulates the valid use of the coupon during a purchase or ordering.

Engage controls the distribution of coupons to the message recipient (see Add Coupons to a Message). Each coupon can only be sent one time, to one recipient. The way the coupon list is configured determines what Engage does when there is an insufficient number of coupons in the coupon list.

  • If alternative text is provided, Engage automatically sends the alternative text instead of the coupon code (see Create a New Coupon List).

  • If no alternative text is entered, sendout pauses or cannot be started. When a coupon is included in a message that is sent to a group, Engage verifies that enough coupons are available before the sendout starts. If there are not enough coupons, the sendout cannot be started and an error message is generated. Coupon messages that are sent out via automatic activities pause when there are no more coupons in the list. Sendout of the paused message can be resumed once additional coupons are uploaded to the list (see Resume Sendout of a Coupon Message). In normal group sendouts, the sendout can only resume when there are enough coupons available.

It is possible to configure Engage to send a reminder when the number of coupons in a list reaches a predefined number. This ensures that there are always enough coupons in the list.
