With the help of the filter engine, you can filter analyses as well as metrics and formulas.
Within the filter engine, you can use all dimensions and metrics available in your account. Formulas (e.g., the conversion rate) cannot be used in a filter.

- The filter engine works with containers. A container consists of one or more filters that can be set.
- Each container has a so-called scope.
The available scopes are:
Scope | Description |
---|
Actions | Limits your analysis on information that was collected within an event request. |
Pages | Limits your analysis on information that was collected within a page request. |
Visits | Limits your analysis on information that was collected within a visit. |
Visitors | Limits your analysis on information that was collected regarding a visitor. |
- By default, the scope "Auto" is chosen. "Auto" means that each filter works in its smallest possible scope (Actions, Pages, or visits).
If you use multiple containers, only one of them may use "Auto".
More information can be found in this FAQ. - It depends on the chosen scope which filters are available. For example, for the scope "Pages" only filters are available that have at least the Auto-Scope "Pages".
More information can be found in this FAQ.
Detailed information on the functionality of the filter engine can be found in the training chapter Segmentation and Filter Options.
