Goal

To highlight within a data collection the data of visitors who triggered a specific event under certain conditions, both of which the custom success event specifies. You can assign a value to each occurrence of the targeted event.

Prerequisites

  • Create a pixel.

  • Integrate the external platforms that you want to populate with this custom success event.

Background Information

A custom success event captures the data of those visitors whose web behavior matches specific conditions that include a targeted click event. Each time that event triggers under those conditions counts as a custom success event. Within the data collection for a pixel, the custom success event groups and highlights the data that it captured. This structure eases meaningful reviews of a data collection. Custom success events help you gauge the success of a campaign that is based on how often the target event is triggered. You can build audiences from a custom success event to combine the data that you captured from your website with second- and third-party data for reach and insight.

Procedure

  1. In the Main Navigation, click .
⇒ The Data Collection Overview window opens.
  2. Click the Configure button of the desired pixel.
⇒ The Configure On-Site window opens.
  3. Click the +Add tab and select the custom success event option.
⇒ A tab appears for the new custom success event.
  4. Drag the first condition that you require to build your query and drop it onto the canvas.
⇒ The selected condition opens on the canvas with drop-down lists and input fields you use to specify the details of the condition.

To create an AND relationship between conditions, drag and drop a condition onto the canvas. To create an OR relationship between conditions, drag and drop a condition onto another condition already on the canvas. The AND/OR logic is displayed in the header for each condition.

  5. Repeat step 4 until all the conditions you require to capture occurrences of the desired event appear on the canvas.
⇒ The canvas displays the logic of the complete query.
  6. Enter a name for the custom success event in the custom success event Name input field.
  7. To assign a value to each custom success event and define when the fired event counts as a custom success event, complete the check boxes and drop-down lists as described.

    Setting

    Description

    Attribution

The Post Click option is selected for you. No other option is available.

    Assign Value

In the input field, enter the value to be added to your total each time the desired event is fired. The dollar is the only denomination available.

    Expiration

In the input field, enter the number of increments to elapse before the fired event is to count as an additional custom success event. Choose the unit of the increment from the drop-down list. The options are minutes, hours, and days. When a click event occurs with the same pixel ID within the specified expiration for one visitor, the latest click counts as a custom success event.

    Deduplication

To specify how custom success events are counted per visitor.

    • Count all custom success events per visitor.

    • Count one custom success event per visitor.

    • Specify how many custom success events are counted per visitor per time interval.

  8. To populate external pixels with the visitors that this custom success event captures, select the Select External custom success events check box and complete the fields as they appear.
⇒ The Platform drop-down list appears.
  9. Select the desired platform or the Custom option from the Platform drop-down list. Complete the drop-down lists and buttons that open as described.

The options that appear in the Platform drop-down list reflect the external platforms that are integrated with your software. The input fields and drop-down lists that appear differ to reflect the platform that you selected.
