Goal​

To reactivate or remove deactivated contacts automatically after a specific number of days.

Background Information​

After a contact is deactivated, the contact can be:

  • Kept in a deactivated state within the group or system indefinitely.

  • Permanently removed from the group after a set number of days.

  • Reactivated within the group or system after a set number of days.

You can define the number of days after which the deactivated contact is removed from the group or reactivated.

Procedure​

When Mapp Engage deactivates a contact in a group, the system also automatically deactivates the contact system-wide. System-wide deactivation is helpful if you use multiple groups for sendout. System-wide deactivation is a safety measure that helps you to prevent sendout to bad addresses across your entire system.

You can decide whether system-wide deactivated contacts are reactivated system-wide automatically.

  1. In the ​main navigation​, click Audience > Groups​.
  2. Click the  symbol in the ​Actions​ column to open the ​Group Settings​ window.
  3. Select the ​Deactivation​ tab.
  4. Expand the ​Deactivation Handling​ area. Here you decide whether deactivated contacts are reactivated or removed, and after how many days this action takes place.
  5. For each ​Response Category​, enter the desired settings:
    1. From the ​Deactivation Handling​ options, select whether the deactivated contacts are removed from the group or reactivated.
    2. From the drop-down list ​After Number of Days​, choose the time period after which contacts are removed from the group or reactivated.
    3. Select the ​Reactivate System-wide Deactivated Contacts​ check box if the reactivation applies to contacts who are deactivated on a system-wide level. When this button is checked, the contacts in the selected response category are not only reactivated within the current group, but also throughout the entire system.
      This option is only available for deactivated contacts in the following response categories:
      • ​Transient​
      • ​Blocked
      • ​Unknown​
      • ​Communication Failure​
      To block sendout to contacts who are deactivated system-wide, select the ​Do Not Send Messages to System-wide Deactivated Contacts​ check box.
  6. Click the ​Save​ button.
