Contact Profile criteria create segments that are based on a contact´s profile attributes.

The logic of the selection criteria depends on the type of data that is stored in the attribute. Mapp Engage offers different operators for different types of data.

  • Date attributes contain a calendar date.
  • The number data type stores data as a positive or negative numeric value. For example, a mobile number is stored as a number.
  • Boolean attributes contain a value true or false. The attribute can also be empty.
  • A string attribute can contain any characters (including letters, numbers, and special characters).

Each profile attribute must have a unique name in the system. These names are not case-sensitive.

Empty spaces and special characters can create data import problems. Limit the characters of the name to ASCII characters.

Group Membership Attribute

Filters contacts based on member attributes. For more information see Member Attributes.

You cannot use this type of selection in CMS message paragraphs or for profile-based automations.

Group Membership

Creates a segment that is based on the value that is stored in a group attribute. The segment is based on the current membership status of a contact in a specific group or any group, and based on how long a contact has been a group member. Group membership starts on the day that the contact enters the group. A contact can enter a group via subscription or import.

You cannot use this type of selection in CMS message paragraphs or for profile-based automations.

Group CategorySelects groups based on Group Category. For more information see Group Categories.
Status
  • Pending:  Members who have subscribed to a group but not confirmed the opt-in request. This confirmation refers to a double opt-in subscription process.
  • Active:  Members who receive messages from the group. Selecting Active excludes all pending and deactivated members from the segment.
  • Deactivated:  These members were automatically deactivated for the group because their email address generated too many responses (for example, spam complaints). Deactivated members do not receive messages from the group.

In Timeframe

  • Specific Date: Selects contacts whose membership in the group started on a specific calendar date.  Example: Select contacts who joined the group on January 1, 2021.
  • Specific Date Range: Selects contacts whose membership in the group started during a specific date range. The preview tool helps you to determine whether you have selected the date range that you want. Example: Select contacts who joined the group between January 1, 2021 and June 1, 2021.
  • Any Time Before: Creates an open-ended date range relative to a specific calendar date.  Example: Select contacts who joined the group any time before January 1, 2021.
  • Any Time After: Creates an open-ended date range relative to a specific calendar date.  Example: Select contacts who joined the group any time after January 1, 2018.
  • Relative Date: Selects contacts whose membership in the group started before, on, or after the segment run date.  Example: Select contacts who joined the group 14 days before the segment run date. This criteria selects contacts who have been in the group for two weeks.
  • Ignore year: Does not consider the year when calculating the segment. For example, you can use this criteria to select all contacts who joined the group on the segment run date of any year. You could use this segment for an annual anniversary message that celebrates the date when the contact joined the group (for example).
  • Relative Date Range: Selects contacts whose membership in the group started during a relative date range.  Example: Select contacts who joined the group from six months before the run date up to the run date.

For more information about timeframe, see Date Picker in Mapp Engage.

Confirmation Date

Filters contacts based on the date when they responded to an invitation to join a group. Contacts have to confirm that they want to join the group and they have to do so within 14 days of after the invitation is sent. This filter checks the number of days since they responded and not the number of days since the invitation was sent.

You cannot use this type of selection in CMS message paragraphs or for profile-based automations.

Inviting contacts is one of the options in the Import tab (Audience > Administration > Group Members > Import).
